Kevin and Cristyne kicked off this spirited Fun Friday with post-Tony Awards excitement, including a lively discussion about standout shows like Maybe Happy Ending, Oh Mary!, and the dazzling Hamilton mashup celebrating its 10-year anniversary. Kevin’s family turned the week into a musical marathon, rewatching Hamilton, Les Mis, and Sound of Music—a Broadway fever dream come true.

The hosts praised the incredible Broadway Inspirational Voices and Cynthia Erivo’s soul-shaking performance. They also dissected Nicole Scherzinger’s surprise win over Audra McDonald and celebrated Andrew Lloyd Webber’s redemption arc with Sunset Boulevard finally getting its due recognition.

Next, playwright Robert Blecker joined the show on opening night of his 40-years-in-the-making Off-Broadway play Father Anonymous, centered on Dr. Joseph Warren—the forgotten founding father who helped ignite the American Revolution. The show blends historical accuracy with human drama and is staged at the intimate AMT Theater.

Blecker explained how Warren led key Revolutionary figures like Paul Revere and Sam Adams, yet faded from historical memory. His play revives Warren’s legacy, highlighting themes like civilian control over the military and the need for heroic political leadership—timely messages for today’s audience.

Later, Scott Dwyer of the Sons of the Revolution joined from Fraunces Tavern Museum to recap their festive Flag Day celebration featuring parades, school kids, and patriotic essays. The museum, rich in Revolutionary War lore, remains a NYC treasure where you can sip a pint where Washington bid farewell to his troops.

To wrap things up, Cristyne shared weekend tips: from visiting the Statue of Liberty with extended hours, to trying NYC’s first “wine window” experience in Times Square, and prepping for the all-day yoga marathon celebrating the summer solstice. There’s never a dull moment when Fun Friday blends Broadway with history and a splash of wine.
