SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Huntington Beach has agreed to settle a state lawsuit that tried to force it to end years of opposition to meeting low-income housing goals. The Orange County Register says a proposed housing plan amendment would make it easier to build affordable housing. California — which is struggling with a housing shortage and homelessness crisis — sued the city last year. The state says the city's housing plans have failed to meet state requirements since 2015, when it slashed the number of affordable housing units. The new amendment will be considered by the City Council next month.
