Amazon announced today that it is splitting its headquarters into two, with locations in Alexandria, Virginia and Long Island City, New York.

But, the online retailer’s decision isn’t sitting well with those on both sides of the isle. Some local officials in New York are planning rallies tomorrow to protest the move.

They say the new headquarters will negatively affect transit, low income housing and schools. Democratic socialist and congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted it's not fair Amazon will received hundreds-of-millions-of-dollars in tax breaks when the city struggles with infrastructure issues.

Conservatives note that New York State's $1.5 billion in taxpayer-funded incentives to get Amazon there are nearly triple those of Virginia's.

According to Amazon, the cost for New York taxpayers is going to be about $48,000 per job.
