According to a new CNN poll, the congressional ballot continues to tighten.

The CNN sample found 47% of registered voters say they back the Democratic candidate in their district while 44% back the Republican, putting them well within the poll’s margin of error.

Voters also are divided almost evenly over whether the country would be better off with the Democrats in control of Congress or with the GOP in charge.

Another story from CNN notes “Republican candidates who embraced President Trump and his "drain the swamp" message came out on top in key Senate and congressional races in West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana and North Carolina” this week.

The report admits this has “set the stage for a strong field of GOP candidates heading into the general election in November.”
