The Bringing Up Bates star, who battled sepsis after delivering a healthy baby boy last month, has been moved to a new hospital as she continues to recover from a serious condition that threatened her life. Erin Bates Paine battled sepsis after giving birth to her son, Henry Blythe, on Aug. 25, and was moved to the intensive care unit, where she faced a kidney infection and suffered a seizure before finally taking a turn for the better.

Her husband, Chad Paine, provided an update on her health Sept. 9 in an Instagram post set to Travis Clark’s song Gratitude. He asked their followers to continue praying.

“Recovery is not fast or easy, but we are deeply thankful for every small step forward,” he wrote. “It has completely broken my heart to watch my Erin walk through such pain, yet to see her lifting her voice in praise to the Lord in the midst of it has been nothing short of inspiring. Her kindness and gratefulness she demonstrates to those taking care of her is nothing short of Christ in her. She has been a light wherever she goes.”

His wife, he wrote, was “transferred to a new hospital where a team of doctors is working together to help her improve.” She was transferred Sept. 8.

“The nurses have been so compassionate and have become like family to us,” he wrote. “We miss our babies more than words can say, and we are so grateful for each prayer, message, and act of kindness from those who have reached out during this time.”

He added in a comment to friends, family, and fans: “Your love is carrying us.”

Bringing Up Bates was a reality program that followed Gil and Kelly Jo Bates and their 19 kids as they shared everyday life built on faith and family. The Bates are Christians.
