What a tangled, mixed-up time we’re experiencing in America. Filmmakers expose the horrors of people selling the body parts of aborted babies for massive profit. The alleged villains are exonerated, and the heroes are arrested! Our teens and young adults think “not recycling” is worse than “viewing pornography.”* Millennials, many of whom have never known or acknowledged the unmistakable benefits of capitalism, protest the overreach of the government, and mock our leaders—even as many of them support presidential candidates that would make government control is nearly absolute! And the endless obsession with the election! Franklin Graham recently posted on Facebook, “While the United States is focused on its own politics, the world is unraveling. The danger signals are everywhere. Beheadings, rapes, murders, bombings are taking place every day across North Africa through the Middle East, all the way to the borders of India.”** North Korea has successfully fired a long range missile that could carry a warhead to America, and Iran has been newly-empowered with the funds IT needs to develop nukes of its own. All this, as we worry about transgender locker rooms and Kanye’s spat with Taylor.

Christian, I beg of you—don’t allow this horrific culture to distract you. Don’t allow the headlines to discourage you. Keep at the work of the great commission, and the great commandment, and lift your eyes, because our redemption is indeed near. And never, ever, EVER give up hope!
